By using Powder Scope you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the site.
Forecasts are predictions — not safety advice
Everything on Powder Scope is computer-generated weather-model output. Forecasts are frequently wrong, and are least reliable exactly where it matters most: in complex mountain terrain, at the margins between snow and rain, and beyond the first few days.
Never use this site to make safety-critical decisions. It is not an avalanche forecast, a mountain-weather warning service, or a substitute for one. Before going into the mountains, consult your national or regional avalanche advisory and official weather warnings, check the resort's own conditions report, and use your own judgement and training. Backcountry travel carries risk of serious injury or death, and that risk is yours to manage.
What we provide
Powder Scope ranks ski areas by forecast snowfall and estimated snow quality, and shows a per-resort outlook. We may change, add or remove features, resorts or data sources at any time, and we don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Your account
Accounts are free. Keep your password to yourself — you're responsible for activity under your account. Use a real email address you control, since password resets go there. Don't use the site to break the law, don't attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to it, and don't scrape or bulk-extract our data for redistribution.
You can close your account at any time by emailing us (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
Subscriptions & payment
Some features may be offered as a paid subscription. Where they are: prices are shown in Australian dollars and include any applicable taxes; payment is processed by Stripe under their terms; subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled beforehand; and you can cancel at any time, keeping access until the end of the period you've paid for.
We don't generally give refunds for a period you've already started, but if something has gone wrong, email us — we'd rather sort it out. This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Data & attribution
Forecasts come from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0). Resort locations and elevations come from OpenSkiMap / OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Those licences govern that underlying data. The site itself — its design, branding and code — remains ours.
Liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of it, or from relying on a forecast — including missed trips, travel costs, or injury. Nothing here excludes rights that can't legally be excluded, including the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law; where a guarantee applies and we're permitted to limit our liability, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of doing so.
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the current version, and continuing to use the site means accepting the change. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
